We Ski

We Ski
Publisher: Namco
Platforms: Wii
Rating: E Everyone
Game type: Sports
Rating: *** (out of five)

Whats the premise?

Hop on board the new Wii Balance Board (if youve managed to find a copy of the ultra-hot new Wii Fit) or simply use your Wii-mote and Nunchuk as you hit the slopes on any of the 14 different runs at the Happy Ski Resort.

This game is most similar to?

The slalom skiing component of Wii Fit.

Is it suitable for younger gamers?
My three- and five-year-old sons tried We Ski out, both with and without the Balance Board, and while they liked the experience, they bored of it quite quickly with a rather direct: Is this all it does?

One player or more?
Up to four players can race at a time (and good luck finding four Balance Boards).

The (not-so) secret to success is?

Some-bunny loves you. Just like in real skiing, you probably shouldnt start out on the triple black diamond runs. Dont fret beginning on the bunny slope with the rest of the newbies.

Whats missing?
While you can control your turns quite easily with both the Wii-mote and the Board, the game fails to deliver a really great feeling of speed control.

And in the end?
Considering Wii Fit already includes slalom skiing and ski jumping games, you may not feel a burning desire for We Ski unless youre a real fan of the sport.
